Martinis, but who is Alice?
This West End Lane corner site has changed hands a fair few times in the last decade, with each new incarnation applauded by the locals until something better comes along. Current incumbent, Alice House, seems set to hold their attention: funky modern decor (think bare brick walls, swathes of pretty strung lighting & bright posters), plus great cocktails & decent food is proving to be a winning combo. Pear & cardamom martinis & green tea daiquiris indicate an adventurous streak behind the bar, while the kitchen prefers to play it safe with a pleasing line-up of burgers, steaks & fishcakes. When its nice outside, the street-facing decked terrace makes an agreeable spot for long leisurely lunches & evening drinks.
An interesting location which, for the visitor to West Hampstead, offers an honest insight into what happens to the pub that loses it's way ...
Definitely worth a look - funk value is worth it as well.
